Epipedobates Tricolor
Epipedobates tricolor are found in southwestern Ecuador and northeastern Peru on the western side of the Andes mountains.  These are medium size frogs that despite their size are capable of tackling larger prey such as crickets.  While they are good group frogs, care should be exercised in considering both floor space and horizontal space in managing the dynamics of the group.  Males will compete for elevated spaces from which to call while females will tend to spend their time on the vivarium floor.  The call of these frogs is very similar to anthonyii although when presented with calling side by side subtle differences can often be heard.  Tricolor come from more elevated conditions and appear to prefer cooler conditions, especially for breeding.
Our moraspunga and highland tricolor come from Black Jungle and are housed in 29 gallon vivariums.  To date we have calling but no breeding.
