Dendrobates galactonotus are larger dart frogs that are found in Brazil south of the Amazon River. They are also known as the 'Splashback Frog' for fairly obvious reasons once you have seen what they look like. They are part of an unusual group that includes D. castaneoticus and D. quinquevittatus. We have both the red morph and the 75% orange morph, both from Patrick Nabors at Saurian. Our six red galacs are housed in a 37 gallon high vivarium and the frogs are often out and about including basking high in the viv on a slanted log. In contrast, our four orange galacs are housed in a 29 gallon vivarium and are rarely seen except at feeding time. We have not been successful in breeding these frogs to date and they are very difficult to sex. However our groups are young so time is on our side.
