Phyllobates bicolor

Phyllobates bicolor hails from western Columbia and specimens in the wild are quite poisonous.  Fortunately captive bred specimens are not toxic due to the lack of the native insect diet required to sequester poisons in their skin.  Bicolor can be confused with orange terribilis but are distinguished by the presence of a dark underside.  We received our bicolor froglets from Bob Pickert at the 2006 Midwest Frog Fest and they are actively growing.  After several months of quarantine, they are housed communally in a 40 gallon breeder viv as shown in the photos.  More will be added to this page as things progress.
